The Rule Book

(Learn It. Use it)

1.       Have Fun!

2.     No vulgar team names, please. We want to keep this league enjoyable for everyone. The commissioner reserves the right to disallow any team name we believe is inappropriate.

3.     Registration is open for every following season during the preceding off-season. Once the season starts, all registration is closed.

4.     One team per person. Eight teams per league. Any leagues that are unfilled will be disbanded unless there are at least 6 owners. If there are 6 or 7, the remaining teams will remain ghost teams.

5.     This fantasy game will be played in head to head format with two series per week.

6.    The series’ will take place Monday through Wednesday and then Thursday through Sunday.

7.      Scoring will be 4 x 4. The offensive categories will be average (abbr. Avg.), runs scored (abbr. R), runs batted in (RBI), and Slugging Percentage (abbr. SLG). The pitching categories will be earned run average (abbr. ERA), wins (abbr. W), strikeouts (abbr. K), and saves (abbr. S).

8.     Series outcomes will be determined on the last day in the series. Whoever has the highest accumulated statistics in a given category wins that category for the series. For example: If your team has a 3.28 ERA, and your opponent has a 3.30 ERA for the series at the end of the Monday through Wednesday match-up, then your team gets one win in that series.

9.     The final scores will translate to the league standings page at the end of each series.

10.  In the event of a tie, the home team wins the first tied category, with the away team winning the next tied category and so on and so forth. This is called the home team advantage.

11.     All WBL players are eligible to be drafted. However, players must play in WBL games to accumulate statistics. The more successful your players are in the WBL, the better your WBL Fantasy team will do.

12.  League drafts will be live. Times will need to be coordinated with team owners as they register.

13.  Draft order will be determined at random the day of the league draft.

14.  Drafts will be conducted in a snake style, where the owner with the first overall pick will have the last pick in the next round and so on.

15.  Owners who miss the draft will be at the mercy of a completely illogical auto-pick by the commissioner. I’ll do my best, but if you absolutely must miss the live draft, send a draft list in to WBLFantasy@aol.com. If you do not send your list to this name prior to the draft, it cannot be guaranteed that your picks will be honored.

16.  Teams must consist of 18 players at all times. They will play the following positions:

                                                             i.      1 catcher

                                                           ii.      1 first baseman

                                                        iii.      1 second baseman

                                                         iv.      1 third baseman

                                                            v.      1 shortstop

                                                         vi.      4 outfielders

                                                       vii.      4 starting pitchers

                                                    viii.      1 utility pitcher

                                                         ix.      1 relief pitcher

                                                            x.      3 bench players (who will not earn stats for your team unless they are in the starting lineup)

17.   Position eligibility will be determined by the players’ real eligibility in the WBL. If an offensive player qualifies for a position with a fielding percentage of .800 or greater at that position, he can be used there. Players who do not have a fielding percentage above .800 at any position must play at their natural position. Pitchers can pitch in relief or in starting roles if their WBL stamina rating is B or above. Pitchers who do not have stamina rating of B or greater must play at their natural position.

18.  Pitchers’ offensive production will not be taken into account at all. Likewise, offensive players who pitch in WBL games will not accumulate pitching statistics for the series.

19.   Lineups will be accepted up until midnight Sunday for series’ that begin on Monday, and Wednesday at midnight for series’ that begin on Thursday. No lineup changes in mid series will be accepted.

20.      The free agent market is completely open on a first come-first serve basis. Free agents may be claimed on the message board.

21.        Trading will be conducted on the message board as well. Any owner in the league may contest a trade. If the trade is contested, the commissioner will review it and veto it if necessary. There will be no debates, and no overturning of decisions. As it is in real life, the umpire’s call is FINAL.

22.      Collusion, or any kind of cheating, will not be tolerated in this league. The commissioner reserves the right to dismiss any owner at any time and for any reason during the course of a season.

23.      The winner and runner-up of each league will qualify to play in a “Winners-Only” league in the following season.

24.      15 WBL attribute points will be awarded to the champion of each WBL Fantasy league. 8 Points for the runner-up. 25 Points will be awarded to the champion of a “Winners-Only” league, with 15 going to the runner-up in those leagues.
